Gold(I) catalysts with bifunctional P, N ligands.

چکیده
A series of phosphanes with imidazolyl substituents were prepared as hemilabile PN ligands. The corresponding gold(I) complexes were tested as bifunctional catalysts in the Markovnikov hydration of 1-octyne, as well as in the synthesis of propargylamines by the three component coupling reaction of piperidine, benzaldehyde, and phenylacetylene. While the activity in the hydration of 1-octyne was low, the complexes are potent catalysts for the three component coupling reaction. In homogeneous solution the conversions to the respective propargylamine were considerably higher than under aqueous biphasic conditions. The connectivity of the imidazolyl substituents to the phosphorus atom, their substitution pattern, as well as the number of heteroaromatic substituents have pronounced effects on the catalytic activity of the corresponding gold(I) complexes. Furthermore, formation of polymetallic species with Au(2), Au(3), and Au(4) units has been observed and the solid-state structures of the compounds [(5)(2)Au(3)Cl(2)]Cl and [(3c)(2)Au(4)Cl(2)]Cl(2) (3c = tris(2-isopropylimidazol-4(5)-yl phosphane, 5 = 2-tert-butylimidazol-4(5)-yldiphenyl phosphane) were determined. The gold(I) complexes of imidazol-2-yl phosphane ligands proved to be a novel source for bis(NHC)gold(I) complexes (NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene).

Dissymmetric gold(I) N-heterocyclic carbene complexes: a key unexpected structural parameter for highly efficient catalysts in the addition of alcohols to internal alkynes.
Gold(I) N-heterocyclic carbene complexes (Au-NHC) with symmetric (bis-benzyl, -propyl and -mesityl substituents) and dissymmetric (mesityl and alkyl--benzyl or propyl--substituents) NHC ligands were synthesized and tested as catalysts for the addition of methanol to 3-hexyne, as a representative internal alkyne. While symmetric ones--bis-alkyl (propyl or benzyl) or bis-mesityl systems--displaye...
متن کاملDevelopment of catalysts and ligands for enantioselective gold catalysis.
During the past decade, the use of Au(I) complexes for the catalytic activation of C-C π-bonds has been investigated intensely. Over this time period, the development of homogeneous gold catalysis has been extraordinarily rapid and has yielded a host of mild and selective methods for the formation of carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds. The facile formation of new bonds facilitated by gol...
متن کاملOxidations of amines with molecular oxygen using bifunctional gold–titania catalysts
Over the past decades it has become clear that supported gold nanoparticles are surprisingly active and selective catalysts for several green oxidation reactions of oxygen-containing hydrocarbons using molecular oxygen as the stoichiometric oxidant. We here report that bifunctional gold–titania catalysts can be employed to facilitate the oxidation of amines into amides with high selectivity. Fu...
متن کاملRecent advances in the polymerization of butadiene over the last decade
The stereospecific polymerization of conjugated dienes began in 1954 with the first catalysts obtained by combining TiCl4 or TiCl3 with aluminum-alkyls, i.e. the catalytic systems previously employed for ethylene and propylene polymerizations. Subsequently, many other catalytic systems were obtained and examined by a combination of transition metal or lanthanide compounds with appropriate alkyl...
متن کاملThe synthesis of new oxazoline-containing bifunctional catalysts and their application in the addition of diethylzinc to aldehydes.
The straightforward preparation of new modular oxazoline-containing bifunctional catalysts is reported employing a microwave-assisted Buchwald-Hartwig aryl amination as the key step. Covalent attachment of 2-(o-aminophenyl)oxazolines and pyridine derivatives generated in good-to-high yields a series of ligands in two or three steps in which each part was altered independently to tune the activi...
